Privacy Policy

Meal Simple is operated by AKW Ventures, LLC. We designed the app to work with little data collection: no Meal Simple account, advertising, analytics, or cross-app tracking is required.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how AKW Ventures, LLC ("AKW," "we," "us," or "our") handles information through the Meal Simple app, mealsimple.app, and Meal Simple support. It does not govern services operated by Apple or other third parties.

2. Information stored by the app

Your meal plans, serving choices, favorites, grocery-list checks, meal preferences, allergen selections, and app settings are stored locally on your device. AKW does not receive this information, use it to create a profile about you, or synchronize it through a Meal Simple account. Deleting the app generally deletes this locally stored information, subject to your device and backup settings.

Meal Simple does not request access to your precise location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, or health records. The current app does not contain third-party advertising or analytics tools and does not track you across apps or websites.

3. Information you choose to provide

When you use the Support page, we collect your email address, message, selected topic, and any name you choose to provide. We use that information to respond to you, investigate problems, provide support, evaluate feedback, improve Meal Simple, maintain appropriate business records, and protect our services from fraud or abuse. Contacting support is optional and is not required to use the app.

Please do not include passwords, payment-card details, medical records, or other sensitive information in a support message. Information you voluntarily include in the message will be handled as part of the support request.

4. Website and technical information

When you visit our website or submit a support request, our hosting, security, and email-delivery providers may process ordinary technical information such as your IP address, browser or device type, requested page, request time, and security-related signals. This information is used to deliver the website, route support messages, limit spam and abuse, maintain security, and diagnose failures.

We do not use advertising cookies, serve third-party advertisements, or use website information for cross-site behavioral advertising. Our providers may use essential technologies needed to operate and secure their services.

5. How we use and disclose information

We may use or disclose information as reasonably necessary to:

• provide, maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve Meal Simple;
• answer support, privacy, and legal requests;
• detect or prevent fraud, spam, misuse, security incidents, or unlawful activity;
• comply with law, legal process, or enforceable government requests;
• enforce our Terms of Use or protect the rights, property, or safety of AKW, our users, or others; and
• complete a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or transfer of some or all of our business, subject to appropriate safeguards.

We use service providers to host the website, protect it from abuse, and deliver support messages to our support team. They may process information only to perform services for us or as otherwise permitted by law. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

6. Retention

Information stored by the app remains under your control on your device. Because AKW does not receive that information, we cannot retrieve or delete it remotely.

We retain support correspondence and related technical records only as long as reasonably necessary to respond, provide support, maintain security and business records, improve our services, resolve disputes, or satisfy legal obligations. We then delete or de-identify the information when reasonably practicable.

7. Your choices and privacy requests

You may use the app without contacting support. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information you previously submitted to us by choosing Privacy on our Support page. Depending on where you live, applicable law may provide additional rights, including the right to appeal a decision concerning a privacy request. We may need to verify your request and may retain limited information when permitted or required for security, legal compliance, or recordkeeping.

Meal Simple does not send marketing email through the support form. A support conversation may include messages necessary to answer or follow up on your request.

8. Printing, sharing, and third-party services

If you download the app, open an external link, or choose to print, save, or share a meal guide, Apple, your device, your browser, and any destination you select handle that activity under their own terms and privacy policies. AKW does not receive a list of the people, apps, printers, or services you select through the device sharing interface.

9. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information handled through our services. No method of internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children

Meal Simple is a general-audience meal-planning service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child submitted personal information to us, please contact us through the Support page so we can review and delete it as appropriate.

11. Visitors outside the United States

AKW is based in the United States. If you submit information to support from another country, it may be processed in the United States and other locations where our service providers operate, subject to applicable law and appropriate safeguards.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Meal Simple changes or legal requirements develop. We will post the revised policy here and update the effective date. If a change materially affects how we use information already provided, we will give additional notice when reasonably appropriate.
